Daily Life

To support our team, there are regular visits from the GP and District Nurses, as well as the dentist, chiropodist, optician and other health care professionals.

Sometimes, though, feeling good is just about having a bit of a boost, so weekly visits from the hairdresser in our in-house salon are very popular with many of our residents. In addition there are weekly visits from our nail technician too for the chance to get a manicure.

Mealtimes are an important part of family life here at Brambles, just as they are in your family home.

A healthy, nutritious and tasty diet is central to your wellbeing, so our chefs work hard to prepare meals you’ll enjoy and look forward too.
All your food, from breakfast to your evening meal, is freshly prepared every day in our own kitchen, including freshly baked cakes for your morning or afternoon snack. You’ll find a wide variety of home-cooked dishes, and we will make sure we get to know your favourites and the things you’re not keen on.

Your specific dietary needs are fully assessed as part of your personal care plan, and we cater for all dietary requirements.

Your personal likes and dislikes form part of your personal care plan too, down to, for example, whether you like to have a cup of tea before you get up, and your favourite cup.

Many of our residents enjoy the opportunity to socialise over meals in the dining room, but of course, if you prefer to take your meals in your own room, we will bring them to you there.

As well as your personal care plan, you will have named carers who understand your needs and wants, and who get to know you – while you get to know them.

All of our bedrooms are a good size, and tastefully decorated, allowing you to personalise your space with your favourite things. Many are en-suite, and each is equipped with TV point and 24 hour nurse call.

We provide high quality furniture and fittings, including profiling beds in the event that this is required.

You’ll be encouraged to personalise your room with your favourite possessions, like pictures, ornaments and even certain items of furniture.
It’s important that you enjoy your life and feel part of our family community, so we provide plenty of opportunity to socialise and get involved.
We organise regular events and parties including celebrating your birthday. From Christmas parties to summer fetes, Royal Weddings or St Georges Day, we make sure there are always things to celebrate. Your family will be welcome too.

You’ll find a regular programme of activities, from singing, fitness and dancing, quizzes and that old favourite bingo, you’ll find a whole range of things to get involved in.

We also welcome input from you and your family as to what else we could do to make sure you enjoy life at Brambles to the fullest.

If your loved one has moved in, you are part of the family too. You are welcome to visit anytime and join your relative for meals or at one of our social events. We also understand that having a loved one move into care can be a big adjustment for the rest of the family, so we are always here to discuss your feelings, and answer any questions.

The staff are very friendly, caring and kind. My mother has settled in very quickly and appears to be in very good spirits. I had heard very good reports from neighbours, who tell me that their relatives had been very well cared for.

My father has been there for a number of years. I always feel he is being well looked after. The staff are always helpful and everyone has a positive attitude. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere to be looked after in a kind and respectful way.

My father has spent over a year at Brambles Care Home. During this time he has been well looked after and cared for. All the staff are kind and caring and have catered for all his needs. The home is very friendly, the food is all home cooked and of excellent quality. The home provides plenty of activities and visitors and relatives are all made to feel welcome.

‘My mother has been receiving end of life care for over 7 weeks at Brambles Care Home. Everyone of the staff we have met have been thoroughly supportive in meeting our needs and those of my 92-year-old mother. She is very weak and frail but the specialist care team have made sure that she is comfortable safe and warm. Her hygiene needs are met on an extremely regular basis and all this is recorded on a daily sheet which we can review with the staff at any time. Brambles have allowed us to visit in person but we have to have a lateral flow covid test before entering the home. We have had nine of these and although these are time-consuming and an extra to their regular duties the staff have always met us with a smile on their faces and always greet us with words of encouragement. During this time, they have also kept us up to date with my mother’s condition by phone and by email. I cannot fault anything that they have done neither can I think of anything else they could have done. Thanks’.

Dad was always happy at Brambles Care Home. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing good support to the family. This was especially true as Dad approached the end of his life. He always enjoyed the food.

My mother has been a resident at Brambles Care Home for nearly five years. Throughout this time, they have communicated well, and all members of staff have been friendly, cheerful, kind, patient and caring. Initially, my mother was encouraged to be as independent as possible but as her health deteriorated, the staff have adapted mum’s care plan to cover her additional needs, allowing her to stay in the place that she now regards as home. We (her children) are so grateful to the staff at Brambles for their continuing care and kindness.
